Hi, I’m Fiona and live near Hawkesbury in South Gloucestershire with my husband, 3 dogs and 5 chickens!!
I’m a part time Nurse and my husband works in IT and is a dab hand at fixing things and renovating tractors in his spare time.
We got married at nearby Kingscote Barn in 2018 and ever since planning my own wedding, would love to provide an amazing journey for you on the best day of your lives. The day goes so quickly!!
After much research, I found the perfect campervan near Birmingham, retired from another wedding transport business and most recently a 1968 Karmann Beetle Convertible, also coming from another wedding business!
Now I’m complete with my 2 VWs, my company and excitement starts….
A bit about Bertie &Betty
Bertie is an adventurous 1966 split screen campervan who likes nothing better than to get out on the open road. Bertie’s quirky retro interior is comfortable and spacious, enabling his passengers to relax, chat and make the most of their journey. His exterior is in a neutral two-tone cream and white which compliments any scheme of wedding colours.
Bertie was born in 1966 in Germany, but spent most of his life in Mississippi, USA. In 2010, he came out of retirement, with a revived thirst for life, and a dogged determination to get himself back into shape. During his renovation, he was lowered and fitted with an Alpine audio-visual entertainment system, so his passengers could sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
Bertie has retro two-tone wrap around seating, specifically designed for weddings creating a comfortable relaxed environment for his passengers to enjoy plenty of wedding chat. His six pop-out safaris windows back and front enable his passengers to let the outside in. Bertie is always ready for any adventure!!
Betty is a 1968 Karmann Convertible so a perfect car for hopefully a sunny day. She does have a fully water tight roof just incase! She has also done quite a few weddings over the past 10 years in North Devon.
She is finished in a pearl white, with complimentary cream interior. Betty is great for the Groom and the Best Man or by following the rest of the Bridal Party or for the Bridal party itself. She can be beautifully photographed with the roof folded back.
History of the Volkswagen T2 ‘Splitscreen’
The first generation of the Volkswagen Type 2 was available as a van for work or as a people carrier. It had the distinctive 2 front windscreens and the V shape on the front panel. Around the world it became affectionately known as the Bus, Barndoor, Kombi, Bullie, Microbus, Splitscreen, or Splitty, Samba, 21 Window and 23 Window, to name just a few of its nick names. Initially built until 1956 at Wolfsburg; from1956, it was built at the completely new Transporter factory in Hanover. Sharing many components with the VW Beetle, the first Transporters were powered by a 25Hp 1100cc Volkswagen air-cooled engine mounted in the rear. This was upgraded to the 1200cc 30 Hp engine 1953. Up until 1955 they were often called the Barndoor due to the enormous rear engine lid, they also had a flat roof at the front, while the later versions had the distinctive peak or overhang over the 2 front windscreens. History of the Volkswagen Beetle
The Beetle was commissioned in the 1930s by Adolf Hitler as the “people’s car” (or volks wagen in German). Designed by Ferdinand Porsche, the curvy car was affordable, practical and reliable. Three decades later, the “Bug” (as it was affectionately known) became a symbol of the 1960s and the “small is beautiful” ethos.
In 1968, the Type 1 was officially given the name “Beetle” (from “der Käfer,” German for beetle, which was used in brochures). That year, Disney released the first of six movies featuring Herbie the Love Bug, an anthropomorphic 1963 Beetle with a racing-style number 53 on the hood. In 2018, one of the cars used in the 1977 movie Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo and 1982’s Herbie Goes Bananas set a record for a Beetle at auction, selling at Barrett-Jackson for $128,700. (Forbes.com)
